Group plans scholarships for ag students

Updated

A new not-for-profit organization will assist students who plan to study agriculture or truck driving.
The Illiana Agricultural Scholarship Group was recently established and is working with seven area colleges and community colleges to provide scholarships, President Steve Miller, New Hebron, said.
A pair of informational meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, and 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Duncanville Baptist Church.
The group is also planning a pair of fund raisers.
One will be a Labor Day tractor pull in honor of John Meese and Bill Ridgway. The event will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, Oblong.
The pull will also raise money to help residents of Crawford County and Sullivan, Ind., who were affected by the March 31. These funds will be raised through a separate “Pulling for a Cause” category for female competitors.
The group will also give away a tractor and accessories. Interested persons can contact Miller at 618-707-0939 or via email at weedmansiu@yahoo.com.
