McKinney, Texas — Norma Lee Garrard Irvin of McKinney, TX was called home to her Heavenly Father on September 8, 2023. She was born on October 11, 1932 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Lester and Beulah Garrard. She graduated from Robinson High School in Robinson, Illinois in 1950.
Norma met the love of her life, Cecil Irvin of Palestine, Illinois, while in high school. They were married on August 2, 1952 in Owensboro, KY. To this union were born four daughters – Kathy, Jerri, Ronda, and Angela. They lived in Robinson until Cecil transferred with Marathon Oil and they moved to LaMarque, TX in 1971. Upon Cecil's retirement in 1994, they settled in McKinney, TX.
Norma devoted her life to being a loving and dedicated wife and mother. In her early years of marriage, she and Cecil enjoyed bowling on Marathon Oil bowling teams. They also enjoyed playing 42 with special friends in LaMarque for fourteen years.
She was an active member of both First Baptist Church in Robinson, Illinois, and Highlands Baptist Church in LaMarque, Texas where she served on various committees and actively served the youth.
She is survived by her daughters Kathy Miller (husband Tom) of Austin, TX, Jerri Glenn (husband Mike) of League City, TX, Ronda Murray of McKinney, TX, and Angela LaBry (husband Daniel) of The Woodlands, TX; eleven grandchildren: Christopher Miller, Lauren Miller Laverde, Michelle Glenn Harrold, Tamara Glenn Buzzell, Jenny Murray Hare, Sara Murray Sellers, Dana Murray LeNorman, Jordan LaBry, Joshua LaBry, Faith LaBry, and Jonathan LaBry; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Cecil Irvin, her father and mother (Lester and Beulah Garrard), two brothers (Leon Garrard and Robert Garrard), a sister (Virginia Garrard Hall), and her son-in-law Pat Murray.
Norma's wishes were not to have a public memorial service. The family will celebrate her life in a private gathering in the near future.
