Obituaries

David H. Pierson, age 83 of Bridgeport, IL, peacefully passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 in Carmi, IL at 5:53 p.m. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born September 8, 2021 in Lukin Township in Lawrence County Illinois, the son of Stanley Lewis & Brittie Isabella Pierson. David was the youngest of 7 children.

David worked as a butcher at the Red & White Grocery, the Eagles as a bartender and retired from the Texaco Refinery after 19 plus years of dedicated service. David was a skilled lifetime carpenter working with his father and son on numerous building projects including building his family's home. Early in David's career he traded his carpentry skills for flying lessons in an Avro Avian aircraft which propelled his love of aviation. He would say that when he was flying he felt "closer to the man upstairs."

David enjoyed auctions, yard sales, hunting, playing poker & dancing. He was an avid collector of knives, antique tools & Texaco memorabilia. David also enjoyed art & drafting. He was known for his unending generosity, humor & making pancakes the size of your head.

He is survived by his sister Ethel (Pierson) Smith of Portage, IN. He is survived by his children Angie (Pierson) Whisnant of Lakeland, Florida, Kenneth (Connie) Pierson of Murphy, NC, and Kris (Pierson) Bryant (Eric) of Carmi, IL; 10 loving grandchildren: Aubrey Eads of Flora, IL, Levi Eads (Madolyn) of Rinard, IL, Jessica (Carpenter) Owen (Casey) of St. Louis, MO, Austin Whisnant of Edwardsville, IL and Ian Whisnant of Edwardsville, IL, Cody Pierson of Hamel, IL, Alisa (Pierson) McCormick (Aaron) of Xenia, IL, Dalton Pierson (Shelby) of Xenia, Il, Brock LeCrone of Olney, IL, and Taylor LeCrone of Charleston, IL; 14 adoring great grandchildren: Rhiannon, Jude, Jax, Vynni, Ava, Elizabeth, Alexander, Sophia, Draven, Izabella, Wren, Penelope, Kaisley, and Corbin.

David was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Connie Kay (Pierson) Eads, his parents Stanley and Brittie Pierson, his siblings Bonnie, Barnett, Judy, Geraldine, and Alfrad.

A celebration of life is being planned to honor David's life; to laugh, to cry, to share.
