Jimmy Francis Jones
BRIDGEPORT — Jimmy Francis Jones, age 82 of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1939 to Ralph and Louise (McClaskey) Jones in Lukin Township.
Jimmy served in the United States Army from Jan. 21, 1958 to Jan. 20, 1960 and was stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
Jimmy married Frances Helen (Schoonover) Jones on Oct. 10, 1958 in Lawrenceville.
He worked for several construction companies as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Jimmy retired from Maeco Construction Company in Lawrenceville.
Jimmy enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, riding horses and spending time with his animals. His most favorite thing was spending time with his family and eating his favorite snacks, along with pranking his children.
Jimmy is survived by: his four children: one son, Jimmy A. Jones and wife Aleasa of Bridgeport; three daughters, Paula J. Bowman and husband Donald of Bridgeport; Sandra K. Wells of Bridgeport; and Billie Hawkins and husband Rick of Lawrenceville; one brother, Bill Jones and wife Jenny of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren, Jamey, Christy, Cameron, Derek, Jared, Ashley, Jessica, Casey and Zachary, 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Frances Helen Jones; his parents, Ralph Jones and Louise (McClaskey) Jones; one son, Ronnie Jones; four sisters, infant twin Gladys Jones; Maxine Campbell; Patsy Wells; and Jean Bousley; four brothers, infant twin Robert; Mack Jones; Larry Jones; and John Jones.
The funeral will be held at Glasser Funeral Home in Bridgeport on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Sumner City Cemetery, Sumner, with Military Rites by the Lawrenceville VFW.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, Aug. 28 starting at 11 a.m. until time of the service at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Bridgeport Senior Citizens Center, Bridgeport.
