Although both of their games were close recently, neither of them resulted in a win for Red Hill High School’s girls’ basketball team.

The Lady Salukis dropped a pair of conference contests last week, one at home and one on the road.

Against Wayne City Jan. 17, Red Hill came out on the short end of a 38-27 decision.

The Lady Salukis trailed 11-4 after one quarter, 19-6 at halftime and 27-13 after three quarters, then Red Hill won the fourth quarter 14-11, but it was too little, too late.

Riley Moore led RHHS with eight points, while Caitlee Gray posted seven, Tess Heath scored five, Grace Griesemer netted four, Kenzi Reeves added two and Alaynah Hulfachor had one.

Greenlea Vaughan led Wayne City with 16 points, while Kenzie Seidel was also in double figures with 10.

There was no junior varsity game.

At Oblong Jan. 19, Red Hill trailed 14-12 after one quarter, but managed to tie the score at 22-22 at halftime. However, RHHS was outscored 24-9 in the third quarter, as OPH took a 46-31 lead into the final period. Red Hill did win the fourth quarter 13-10, but it was not enough.

Heath led RHHS with 22 points, while Gray posted nine, Griesemer scored seven, Moore netted four and Baylee McDaniel added two.

Genna Kidwell led OPH with 30 points, including seven three-pointers, while Genell Russell was next with nine.

Red Hill did win a shortened JV game, 25-11.

Moore led RHHS with 14 points, while Gray scored seven.

Red Hill (3-22, 1-4 LOVC, 0-4 MTC) is not scheduled to play again this month, as their next game is slated to be at Mt. Carmel Feb. 2 at 6:15 p.m.
