Green Scholarships awarded at Red Hill Jr./Sr. High School
The 21st annual check acceptance ceremony for the Green Family Trust scholarships was held on Aug. 5 at the Red Hill Jr./Sr. High School. The following recipients were in attendance, pictured, from left, are: Maycee Holtz, Ali Andrews, Jeana Buchanan, MaKenna Dunkin, Nicklaus Scherer, Brylee Wells and Lydia Higgins. Recipients not pictured include: Sydney Curts, Grace Hahn and Parker Havill. Each student received the first of two checks for $1,500. For year to date, the total is 140 students with some receiving up to four years, for a sum of $476,200 in 21 years from the Green Family Trust Scholarships. Contributed photo

Locals travel to Nashville to visit famous landmarks
B-Jay Travel travelers, from several different towns, recently boarded a motorcoach to visit the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium, RCA Studio B, and Loretta Lynn's Ranch. Extreme 10U travel softball, based in Flat Rock, won the annual Robinson Firecracker Tournament over Fourth of July weekend with a perfect 5-0 record, while outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 60-2.
