Lawrence County day at the state fair Aug. 12



 

 

Lawrence County 4-H members who earned a state fair ribbon during the recent Lawrence County 4-H Fair held at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in Sumner, will get the chance to show their projects at the Illinois State Fair on Friday, Aug. 12.
Projects will be displayed in the Orr Building at the State Fairgrounds located in Springfield. Project drop-off is from 8-9 a.m.
All projects will be judged on a state level from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. before projects are released back into the exhibitors hands at 3:30 p.m. All projects must be picked up by 4:30 p.m.
Families attending the state fair may purchase a parking pass at the fairgrounds or park at the private lots at the fairgrounds.
Those attending are encouraged to download the 4-H Now app to view schedules and exhibitor information as well as download maps of the fairgrounds. To download the app, visit grandstandsites.com/gs?c=Illinois_4-H.
In regards to the poultry show, the Illinois Department of Agriculture has announced that both junior and open live shows will be canceled for 2022 to protect the birds from the highly pathogenic avian influenza.
State Fair junior poultry exhibitors will continue to have an opportunity to receive recognition and premiums through a virtual poster competition. Rules and entry requirements are available at www.illinoisstatefair.info
