Lawrence County unemployment dropped slightly between September and October but remained steady in comparision to a year earlier.
According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, 4.6% of the county’s work force was unemployed in October. This was down from 4.7% the previous month and in October 2021.
Crawford County’s rate was at 3.7% in October which was up slightly from 3.6% in September. Rates stated the same as October 2021.
Clark County posted similar results. There, the October jobless rate was 3.8%. This was up from 3.7% in September and last October.
In Jasper County, the rate was 3.2%, the same as a month earlier and last year.
In Indiana, Vigo County reported a jobless rate of 3.4, up from 2.6% the previous month and 3.1 last year.
Sullivan County’s rate was 3.3%. This was up from 2.5% in September and 2.7% in 2021.
The Knox County unemployment rate was 2.7%, up from 2% in September and 2.1% last year.
The Indiana statewide rate was 2.8%. This was up from 2.2% a month before and 2.5% last October.
Nationally, unemployment was at 3.4% in October, up from 3.3% a month earlier but down from 4.3% in 2021.
