Lawrenceville 10s eliminated from district tourney with pair of losses

MT. CARMEL –– Runs came in bunches, but unfortunately for Lawrenceville Little League’s 10-year-old all-star team, those bunches came for the other team.

After winning their opening game of the District 1 Tournament at Mt. Carmel (21-11 over Mt. Carmel) July 11, Lawrenceville lost its next two games by a combined score of 36-2 and were eliminated from the tournament.

In a winner’s bracket game against Salem, Lawrenceville trailed 12-0 in the second inning July 12 when the game was suspended by rain. The game resumed July 13 and ended with Lawrenceville on the wrong end of an 18-0 decision.

Lawrenceville did not get a hit in the game, while Lewis Taylor, Crew Waldrop, Leo Seitzinger and Archer Moyes each drew a walk.

Lawrenceville followed up by losing an elimination game to Olney on July 14, 18-2.

Parker Lewis singled for Lawrenceville’s only hit in the game, while Holden McCammon and Taylor each scored a run.

Salem would go on to win the tournament, defeating Olney 11-1 in the championship game July 15.
