Norma F. Cook, age 99 of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Aperion Care of Bridgeport. She was born October 25, 1921 in Lawrenceville to Berl and Josephine (Cook) Preston.
She married Jerald G. "Jay" Cook on August 24, 1955 in Bridgeport, and he preceded her in death.
Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. She was a homemaker and a local (Bridgeport) businesswoman along her husband's side. Many knew her from Jay's Grocery Store, the Pool Room, and Jay's Restaurant. Norma and Jay loved to travel together.
Surviving family includes: two daughters- Theresa "Cece" Wellman of Bloomington, IN and Becky Cook of Bridgeport: two grandchildren- Brad Wellman and wife Elese and Cindi Bowlen and husband Greg all of Bloomington, IN: two great-grandchildren- Tyler Dugan and wife Kristen and Kyle Dugan and wife Chelsea of Bloomington, IN: one great-great-granddaughter- Chloe Dugan of Bloomington, IN: two nephews- John Preston and wife Judy of Michigan, and Mark Smith of Florida: two nieces- Sandy Dolan and husband Ray and Stacy Tallas and husband Karl all of Illinois: and numerous cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Berl and Josephine (Cook) Preston: her husband- Jerald "Jay" Cook: and son-in-law- Jim Wellman.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CST at Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.
