The Red Hill Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education met in regular session on Jan. 19 where the board accepted the resignation of Red Hill High School softball head coach, Amanda Edinger.
Edinger will continue to act as the coach of the junior high team.
The board also accepted a bid from Tracy Electric, Lawrenceville, on a project to replace the light fixtures in a stairwell at the junior/senior high school after recommendation from the Building and Grounds Committee.
The committee will also take a look at the boiler issues at Bridgeport Grade School. After significant work at BGS, the boiler is still showing signs of leaking and will require further repair.
It was also brought up during the meeting that the gymnasium floors at Sumner Attendance Center and the junior/senior high school are both showing signs of flaking. The floor at SAC will require extensive work as it will not be able to be sanded down again for repair. The district will continue to look into costs related to the repairs and will update the board at a later date.
Course descriptions for the 2023-24 school year at Red Hill High School were also approved.
In other business:
• The board approved a bid from Wabash Valley Service for the district’s fuel products.
• The junior/senior high school will move from four quarter grading periods to two-semester grading periods beginning in the 2023-24 school year. All other grade levels will stay on the quarterly grading cycle.
• New bus cameras will be installed on Feb. 17.
The next meeting of the Unit 10 Board of Education is set for Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at Red Hill Jr./Sr. High School in Bridgeport.
