Salukis look to carry momentum on road at Newton

For the first time since Week 1, Red Hill High School’s football team will be playing under the Friday night lights and the Salukis are hopeful that this time around is as fruitful as the first. Following a pair of Saturday games – one in the evening and one in the afternoon – Red Hill will play in the normal Friday night timeslot when they travel to Newton in an important game for both teams.

Winning can be contagious and that seems to be the case for Red Hill High School’s football team. The Salukis have put together a strong start to the season and played solid football for the most part through the first four weeks of the season, which head coach Billy Gray hopes continues for the foreseeable future.

Having a short-term memory is what Lawrenceville High School’s football team is doing this week, as they try to quickly erase last week’s performance. The injury-plagued Indians took one on the chin last week and are licking their wounds in preparation for another Little Illini Conference road contest this week.

Salukis rally late to beat Newton, 22-17

Two fourth-quarter scores erased a two-touchdown deficit and lifted Red Hill High School’s football team to a come-from-behind victory Friday night. The Salukis hung with host Newton for three quarters Friday night, then used a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns – and two-point conversions – to erase and 11-point deficit and pick up a 22-17 victory.
