Men’s Prayer Breakfast

The men’s prayer breakfast will be held on Tuesday, March 10 with a guest speaker to be announced. The non-denominational meeting begins at 6 a.m. and is held weekly at the United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville.

New Life Christian

Breakfast and fellowship begins at 9 a.m. on March 15 with the contemporary worship service beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Sunday evening Bible study is at 5 p.m.

A Wednesday evening prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. on March 18.

The church is located at: 1406 6th St. in Lawrenceville.

We invite everyone to worship.

Bridgeport Wesleyan

Worship services are held each Sunday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Pastor Dave Horn will be preaching a message from God’s Word. Breakfast is offered to guests at 9 a.m. Adult Sunday school begins at 11 a.m. Children’s Sunday school is conducted concurrently to the sermon.

The main church facility is located at 930 Seed Street in Bridgeport, one block east of Red Hill High School. The Family Center is located just a few blocks south at 567 Church St.

Singspiration

The third Sunday program on March 15 will feature the Shinkle’s. Rev. Burl will give the devotion. His wife, Marge, will be at the piano to accompany the strings with Susan Fischer on ukulele; Jeannie Borden on cello; and Esther Brumley on violin; with Prelude and Hymns. Abbey Brian emcees the service.

Gerson Tejeda will be singing and playing the guitar. He grew up in Bolivia where he became a semi-pro soccer player. He married Betsy Bennett from Sumner and they do mission work on the Texas/Mexican border under the World Gospel Mission. He is now a United States citizen. The family has three children, Jayden, Edson and Hadasa.

These weekly services are held at First United Methodist, 12th and Maple.

Jonathan Clark will give the program on March 22.

First and Pisgah Presbyterian

John Borden will fill the pulpit at First Presbyterian, Bridgeport and Pisgah Presbyterian. Ushers at First Presbyterian are Denise Martin and Janet Tamas. Janet Tamas will substitute for Jan Schultz on the piano.

Pisgah is invited to worship with First Presbyterian.

On Wednesday, March 18, a barbecue supper and family night will be held in the fellowship hall. The supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share.

Our Savior Lutheran

Pastor Tom Kramer will bring the message at the 8 a.m. service on the third Sunday in Lent, March 15. Sunday school is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for adults and children ages four to 12.

The pre-service prayer is: “God the father, grant you his holy spirit to renew you in Christian faith by the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, giving you joy in God’s love and pardon, with the eternal life our triune God is working in you.”

The first scripture reading is from Exodus 17:1-7; the epistle is from Romans 5:1-8; and the gospel reading is from John 4:5-26.

Cannot get out to go to church? Worship Anew: LCMS hosts a televised service at WorshipAnew.org on the computer or watch it on Channel 7 or NBC at 7 a.m. CST or Direct TV 377 at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

All are welcome to join OSL each Sunday for worship and Sunday school.

New Hope Christian

New Hope Christian Church offers two Sunday morning opportunities to worship. A traditional service is held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school follows at 9:50 a.m. Fusion, a contemporary service, is at 10:45 a.m.

Serving for the traditional service this Sunday, March 15, will be the greeters Kenny and Donnetta Doyle. Randy Smith will give the call to worship. Dave Logan (communion) and Randy Smith (offering) will serve at the Lord’s Table. Audra Caldwell will be teaching Junior church.

For the Fusion service this Sunday, March 15, the greeters will be the Dan Shields family. Dave Ulrich will share the communion meditation. Cindy Greentree (Junior helpers, Savannah Young and Chloe Seed) will be teaching Elevate Kids (first through third) and Elaine Smith (Junior helper, Zaykk Mills) will be teaching Elevate Jr. Sarah Wattles (Junior helpers, Abby Hunt and Lily Combs) will be in the nursery.

The monthly leadership meeting is at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. All elders, trustees and deacons are encouraged to attend. Evening service is at 6 p.m. The youth group will meet in the youth house from 6-8 p.m.

Wednesday, March 18, the weekly prayer group will meet at 6 p.m. for a time of prayer for the community.

Saturday, March 21, is the Oil Belt Ladies Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cindy Sigler Dagnan will be speaking with Dee Ann Schnautz leading the worship. The cost to attend is $20. You can register online at www.oilbelt.com. The deadline to register is March 13. Also on March 21, the NHCC Spring Cleaning Day sponsored by the Next Gen group will start at 9 a.m. This is a great way to service with your Connect student and give NHCC a deep clean. Lunch will be provided. Please sign up in the hallway if you can help.

Sunday, March 29, the fifth Sunday missions offering will be collected during the morning service. This month’s offering will go to the Randy Caldwell family as they prepare to serve on mission in the Dominican Republic in July. The fifth Sunday rally will be held at New Hebron Christian School on Sunday, March 29. The bus will leave at 6:15 p.m.

First Christian

Greeters for Sunday, March 15, will be Lonnie and Bonnie Cullison. Marvin Leighty will present the call to worship. Jim Meyer will present the communion and offering meditations. Marvin Leighty will bring the message entitled, “A Joyous Lifestyle” from Philippians 4:4-9.

The worship service begins at 9 a.m. each Sunday morning and is broadcast live at that time on WAKO 910 AM and WAKO 99.3 FM. If you would like a CD of the service, call 945-5501 and leave a message letting us know of your request.

Sunday evening Bible study is at 5 p.m. on March 15 in the fellowship room and will continue the study of the book of Mark.

The Wednesday, March 18 afternoon Bible study will meet at 1 p.m. to study the book of Romans. Bible study will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at the home of Jim Moye.

The James 1:27 Ministry will service its next meal at the United Methodist Village on Saturday, March 14. The menu will be chicken and noodles.

Ivan Parker will be in concert at the Red Skelton Center on Sunday, March 15, at 4 p.m. EST.

The leadership meeting will be held at the church at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

The entire congregation is being challenged to read through the Bible in 2020. The scripture for this week is Judges 9 - I Samuel 8. Please feel free to join us to let God’s Word speak to you.

Lawrenceville First UMC

Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church Sunday Celebrations begins on Sunday, March 15, with a fellowship coffee at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school is from 9-10 a.m. followed by worship at 10:15 a.m. Jonas Hamilton will deliver the message. Ushers are Ron Negley, Jack Vayhinger, Jim Lyle, Steve Cordes, Stan Stoelting and David Thacker. A staffed nursery is available on Sunday morning for Sunday school and morning worship. The Singspiration is at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary and will feature Gerson Teje - Missionary from Bolivia.

The men’s prayer breakfast is at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, with a guest speaker to be announced.

Wednesday, March 18, the car committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. The Kid’s Club will meet at 3 p.m. The small groups will meet at 6 p.m.

Thursday, March 19, is the ladies' prayer group at 9:30 a.m.

The church library is open to the public on Sunday mornings during service hours and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon.

If you or anyone you know is interested in attending our church services or events, but needs a ride, please contact Jim Lyle at 943-3780 or Steve Cordes at 943-6385 by noon on Saturday to arrange for transportation on the church van.

Central Christian

Sunday morning worship service begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, at Central Christian Church. Carson Root will give the morning sermon. A staffed nursery is available on Sunday morning and children’s church is offered for those aged four years through the fifth grade. Sunday school follows the service at 10:15 a.m. with classes for all ages.

Guest services include opening doors by Chrystal Holmes. Eric and Gerry Paulin will be the greeters. Information is available at the welcome desk by Donna Wildes.

First Christian (Disciples of Christ)

During the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, March 15, Rev. Tom Akers will deliver the sermon entitled, “Give Me a Drink” based upon the scripture from John 4:5-20, 39-42. Those planning to attend are encouraged to read the selected verses prior to Sunday worship.

The music will be led by Jerren Shidler. The greeter is Sandi Thacker. An extended session is offered during the worship service with Melinda Viehman for children through the fifth grade.

A lift is located on the east side of the building for those who need assistance. An attendant is on duty until the start of the service.

The prayer group will meet at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 16, with the Bible study group meeting at 10 a.m.

Lawrenceville Area Ministerial Association (LAMA)

The Lawrenceville Area Ministerial Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 17, at 10 a.m. at the Lawrenceville First Christian Church, 1407 State Street. All area ministers are invited to attend. Pastor Thom Cody will give a short devotional.

Bridgeport First UMC

A gathering prayer with Chaplain Steve Killion will be held at 8:45 a.m. in the prayer room on Sunday, March 15. Worship services begin at 9 a.m. with Pastor Deetta Gaither bringing the message, “The Scarlet Cord” from the scripture Joshua 2:1-24. The worship leader is Luanne Negley. The sound system operator is Don Dining. The greeters are Kris, Lorie and Brooklyn Gaither. There is an elevator available. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. The LOL youth will go putt-putt golfing in Evansville at 2 p.m. The Balcony Believers will meet at the Bells’ home at 4 p.m. for a movie night and pizza. The Helping His Hands Music Fest is at 4 p.m. EST at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center in Vincennes. General admission is $10. The Lawrence County UMC cluster Lenten service is at 6 p.m. at Sumner UMC.

Wednesday, March 18, is the men’s prayer breakfast at 6 a.m. The Lenten prayer meeting is at 6 p.m.

Thursday, March 19, is the UMW district meeting at 9 a.m. The Goal Digger’s ladies' Bible study at the parsonage is at 10 a.m. Devotions at Southern Meadows takes place at 1 p.m. The church council meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Petrolia UMC

Sunday worship services begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. The sermon by Pastor Deetta Gaither is entitled, “The Scarlet Cord” and is from the scripture Joshua 2:1-24. The worship leader is Ladonna Swindle.

Billett UMC

Pastor Jonas Hamilton will deliver the message, “In the Wilderness” from Exodus 17:1-7 at the 8:45 a.m. service on Sunday, March 15. Sunday school is at 10 a.m. Jeff Shick is the lay leader. Sandy Hardesty is the pianist. The greeters are Barb and Jim Dunn. The acolytes are Corbin Williams and Jace Wells. Ushers are the Well’s family. The scripture is by Becky Shick. This Sunday is Friends Day.

The Wednesday, March 18, morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. at Virginia Richardson’s home. The board meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 21, is the spaghetti dinner and pie auction at 5 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the missionary women to have their women’s conference in June.

Shirley Shick is collecting personal hygiene items for schools. These items are donated to help students in need. There is a box out front for the items to be dropped off in.

Lenten services will be held at Sumner UMC on March 15; Union Chapel UMC on March 22; Pinkstaff UMC on March 29; and Lawrenceville First UMC on April 5.

St. Francisville Free Methodist

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 15. Worship is at 10:30 a.m. Maria Long, a missionary to Greece, will be speaking. Samia, a co-worker from the Birmingham, Alabama, Arabic Church will accompany Long. There will be a soup, sandwich, dessert and drink meal served at noon for all who would like to attend. The Bible study on Hosea 8 will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The prayer meeting is Wednesday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Zion UMC

Pastor Shane Frederick will bring the morning message at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, March 15. Gary and Jackie Gilliatt will be the greeters and Judy Vandermark will lead the song service.

Sunday, March 15, the Lenten service will be held at Sumner UMC at 6 p.m.

The administrative board will meet on Monday, March 9, at 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 19 The Blessing Circle will host a ladies luncheon at Big Jon’s Lunch Box in Mount Carmel. Attendees should plan to arrive by 11:30 a.m.

Bridgeport Free Methodist

Services begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 15 at the Bridgeport Free Methodist Church with Pastor Adam Strauser delivering the message. Kingdom Harbor leaders are Loren Crask and Diana Pemberton with Amelia Crask and Devan Moan as their helpers. Sunday school will follow the service with classes for all ages. Evening service will be held at Island along with youth and CLC groups meeting at 6 p.m.

The prayer meeting is at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17 at the church.

Wednesday, March 18 the prayer circle meets at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Village. Women’s Bible study is at 6 p.m. at the church. The Mighty Oak Men’s Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m. at the fellowship hall.

Friday, March 20, is the men’s breakfast at 8 a.m. at The Brunch House. The service at Aperion Care is at 9:45 a.m.

The Kid’s Shopping Day Southern Illinois Spring Classic half marathona nd 5K run is scheduled for Saturday, March 28.

St. Mary’s Episcopal, Robinson

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is located at 8996 E. 1050th Ave. (Hwy. 33) west of the radio station. This weekend’s service will be Holy Eucharist on Sunday, March 15 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harmon officiating. All baptized Christians are invited to partake of the Lord’s Supper. Coffee and fellowship time will follow the service.

Bridgeport Assembly of God

Guest minister David Bonham will speak on Sunday, March 15. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Morning worship is at 10:30 a.m. Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, March 18, the Kid’s Ministry meets at 6 p.m.

Saturday, March 21, is the men’s prayer breakfast at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Pinkstaff UMC

At the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday, March 15, Pastor David Cogdill’s sermon is entitled, “Justified Through Faith” and the holy scripture is taken from Romans 5:1-11.

The 6 p.m. Lenten worship service will be held at Sumner UMC on Sunday, March 15.

The UM women will meet on Wednesday, March 18, at noon for their luncheon and meeting. The group has been collecting bath size towels to make bibs for the residents at nursing homes in Lawrence County. Bible study is at 6:30 p.m.

First Presbyterian

Reese Ivers will be delivering the message on Sunday, March 15. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

The worship service is at 10:30 a.m. The radio broadcast on WAKO 910 AM and 99.3 FM is heard at that time. The radio broadcast is also streamed live on WAKOradio.com. There is a staffed nursery during the worship service. If you listen to our service and would like to have a bulletin to follow along with the service, call the church office at 943-3638 to request that your name be put on the mailing list.

The Sunday, March 15, worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and will continue the sermon series, “Unfathomable, Indescribable Grace: A Study in the Doctrine of Grace.” Sunday’s message will center on “Grace that Saves” from Ephesians 2. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m. The Sunday school greeters are Corey and Emily Davis. Worship attendants are Dan and Sue Fritchley. The morning nursery is led by Emily Davis, Jana Adams and Kendall DAvis. Evening worship is at 5 p.m.

Wednesday, March 18, the Shiloh Kids Club meets at 6:30 p.m. along with the women’s small group and the prayer meeting. A fellowship meal is served at 5:45 p.m.
