Betty Lee Waddington

Posted on August 31, 2022

Oblong, Sep. 26, 1921 - Ill. — Aug. 24, 2022Betty Lee Waddington, 100, of Oblong, IL, died on August 24, 2022, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong. She was born September 26, 1921, in Bowling Green, IN, the daughter of Elmer & Mary (Baker) Woolsey, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Ralph Waddington on September 6, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Waddington-Ang, in December of 1995.

She is survived by her sons, Lee & Margie Waddington (Robinson, IL) and Rick Waddington (Indianapolis, IN); by eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Betty grew up in Clay City, IN, and was a graduate of Clay City High School. Though she worked at RCA in Indianapolis, IN, during World War II, most of her life was dedicated to tending her house and all who called it "home". She especially enjoyed yardwork and spent countless hours making the outside of her home look pristine. Inside, she could often be found enraptured in a book and read everything from romance to Stephen King novels!

In 1987, she moved to Modesto, CA, to help care for her ailing daughter, Mary, and tend to her children. She moved to the area in 2007 and spent much of the twilight of her life at Ridgeview Care Center, where she was, by all accounts, a beloved resident. Her friendly, outgoing nature will be missed by all who knew her.

It was Betty's wish to be cremated, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements. There will be no public service.
