Dix joins Unit 4 board

Oblong Unit 4 has a new school board member.
The board officially welcomed Erin Dix during a special meeting Wednesday. Dix was appointed to fill the vacancy created when Chad Pusey, the board vice president, resigned in November.
Board members expressed gratitude for “all of the fine candidates” who applied for the opening and encouraged them to “pursue future opportunities to serve the students of Oblong schools.”
In other business, the board authorized FGM Architects to seek bids to replace the HVAC systems in the 1954 and 1968 sections of Oblong Elementary School.
Superintendent Michelle Meese was authorized to order equipment for the project as presented by the architects.
The next regular board meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday Jan. 19.
