Blanchard, Mar. 23, 1937 - Okla. — Dec. 25, 2021Earl Dean Parker, 84, of Blanchard, died Saturday, December 25, 2021, at his home. The son of Parmer E. and Alice I. (Allen) Parker, he was born March 23, 1937, in Honey Creek Township, Crawford County, Illinois. Earl's father died when Earl was seven years old and he started working at eight years of age delivering newspapers to help support his mother and himself. He worked all through school and graduated from Palestine High School in Palestine, Illinois in 1955. After serving in the US Army in the South Pacific as a wireman, he started working for Illinois Central Railroad. During his railroad career he was on the paint gang, served as a clerk, designed packing layouts for railroad cars, investigated many derailments, was a railroad detective and was in management when IC placed him on a medical retirement in 1985. Earl married Verla Jean (Milam) Williams on June 25, 1994, in Mustang. He was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle and worked with Oklahoma Baptist Campers on Mission until his health began to fail. Earl supervised the member-volunteer building of the sanctuary and additional classrooms for Woodland Hills Baptist Church in 1999-2000. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to all fifty states, woodworking and fixing all kinds of things. He was "jack of all trades" and loved working with his hands and helping anyone in need, including building a sleigh for a granddaughter's wedding and a rickshaw for Vacation Bible School. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, his wife of 32 years, Fonza Irene (Nicholas/McGinn) Parker, step-son Danny McGinn, and great-granddaughter Landrie Turner. Survivors include his wife, Verla Parker, of Blanchard; his stepchildren, Melody McGinn of Florida, Mike McGinn of Indiana, Doug Williams and his wife, Jennifer, of Blanchard, Dale Williams and his wife, Tanja, of Tuttle, and Danny Williams and his wife, Kathy, of Tuttle; step daughters-in-law Belinda McGinn of Florida and Charlotte McGinn of Illinois; 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Woodland Hills Baptist Church Building Fund.
