Crawford County voters can start casting their primary election ballots next week.
The primary election is Tuesday, June 28. The first day to vote early at the county clerk’s office and send in vote by mail ballots is Thursday, May 19.
Voters will have the chance to cast their primary ballots in races for governor, congressional seats, state legislative offices and a variety of local positions such as county clerk, treasurer, sheriff and county board members.
Precinct committeemen will also be elected during the primary.
Illinois primaries are usually the third Tuesday of March. This year, the election was moved back to accommodate the decennial redistricting process.
The redrawing of legislative and judicial districts was delayed because the pandemic pushed back the release of the 2020 U.S. Census results needed for the process.
