It’s a grand old flag; celebrate it and do your homework for Flag Day

In America, we celebrate Flag Day on June 14. Although the date holds great significance, it is not an official national holiday. Only one state, Pennsylvania, has designated the day as an official state holiday.

The spring session of the Illinois General Assembly is now history. At the beginning of the session, there was renewed hope that critical aspects of Illinois government might change. After all, for the first time in decades, the House had a new speaker.
Budget snafu leads to scramble in Springfield
I’d been hearing since the end of May when the General Assembly adjourned for the summer that there were some problems with the state budget legislation which needed to be fixed. Some effective dates apparently weren’t drafted right. But, silly me, I failed to follow my own rules and didn’t read the bill (SB2800) for myself.
Detours hidden in infrastructure bill
Gregg Bonelli has another one of his misleading columns in the June 12th Daily News. For some reason he has taken to hinting around the edges these days instead of the definitive political comments he has made in the past. Once you get through all the blather it is pretty clear thought that he is lambasting the Republicans for filibustering President Biden’s two trillion dollar so called, “Infrastructure” Bill.
