Several junior high basketball teams from Crawford County returned to action earlier this week following the holiday break, but the results were less than favorable.

Nuttall Middle School's Haley Woods slides home safely, as Oblong catcher Willow Riker reaches for the throw during Thursday's season opener for both teams at Robinson City Park. Woods led NMS with three hits – including a triple and a double – along with five runs batted in and three runs scored in the Lady Raiders' 14-0 win. One up, one down were the results for Hutsonville-Palestine’s junior high softball team Saturday, as the Lady Tigers opened their season in a three-team, round-robin event at Casey-Westfield.
