County rivals squared off Tuesday afternoon in Oblong and it was the visiting team that came out on the better end of things, as Robinson High School’s softball team scored a win over host Oblong, 10-0.

The Lady Maroons opened the scoring with a run in the second inning, then took control with a five-run third inning. Robinson tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth for an 8-0 advantage, then added two more runs in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Paige Kelly led RHS at the plate with a triple, a double, a single, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Jayden Cravens tripled, doubled, knocked in two runs and scored two runs. Maci Smith doubled, singled twice, drove in two runs and scored two runs, Paige Sanders singled twice, knocked in two runs and scored a run, Sydney Harmon posted a base hit and two runs batted in, Livia Smith singled and scored two runs, Raegan Manhart added a base hit and a run scored and Cadance Brashear singled.
Katie Winterrowd was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two in four innings of work. Sanders tossed the final three frames, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out five to record the save.
Jenna Bailey led OHS at the plate with a double, while Haley Bricker and Madisyn McIntosh posted a base hit apiece.
Bailey was the losing pitcher, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits, while walking four and striking out five in seven innings of work.
Robinson also played on Monday, suffering a 6-4 loss at undefeated Mt. Carmel in a Little Illini Conference contest.
The Lady Maroons trailed 3-1 after an inning of play, but pulled to within 3-2 after scoring a run in the third. However, Mt. Carmel struck for three more runs in the fifth to make the score 6-2, while Robinson rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh and had the tying runs on base, but were unable to get any more before the final out was recorded.
Manhart led RHS at the plate with a single, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Maci Smith and Cravens posted two singles apiece. Brashear singled and scored a run, Harmon added a base hit, Livia Smith and Kelly each drove in a run and Megan Parker scored a run.
Sanders was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, while walking one and striking out one in four and one-third innings of work. Winterrowd went the rest of the way, giving up two hits in one and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief.
Oblong also played on Monday, with the Lady Panthers picking up an 11-1 win over Union-Dugger, Ind., in a Little Okaw Valley Conference contest.
The Lady Panthers led 1-0 after an inning, then added a run in the third and three in the fourth for a 5-0 advantage. Union-Dugger plated a run in the top of the fifth, then Oblong countered with six runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Bricker led the offense for OHS with a double, two singles, two runs batted in and a run scored, while Khloey Richard tripled, singled, knocked in a run and scored a run. McIntosh doubled, singled, scored two runs and drove in a run, Ava Patchett tripled, knocked in three runs and scored a run, Maggie Bailey tripled and scored two runs, Jenna Bailey singled, drove in two runs and scored a run, Gracie Lemmon singled, scored two runs and knocked in a run and Jorie Weber scored a run.

Robinson (13-12, 1-7 LIC) played host to Teutopolis Thursday and Hutsonville-Palestine Friday to close out the regular season. The Lady Maroons are next slated to play Salem in the semifinals of the IHSA Class 2A Salem Regional Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Oblong (5-12, 4-2 LOVC) played at Hutsonville-Palestine in a varsity-JV doubleheader Thursday and will wrap up the regular season at the Lady Tiger Invitational in Oblong Saturday. The Lady Panthers will then open postseason play at home against Martinsville in the first round of the IHSA Class 1A Oblong Regional Monday at 4:30 p.m.
