A handful of local wrestlers competed amongst the best wrestlers in their age group/weight class recently at the Midwest Nationals Wrestling Tournament in Bloomington.
The tournament was held July 2 at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University, with wrestlers from first grade through college competing at varying weight classes and divisions.
Four wrestlers from Crawford County – Ben Mullins, Ian Rosborough, Kahne Hyre and Jared Hermann – all competed, with two of them bringing home some hardware.
Mullins competed in the 7th/8th grade bracket in the 126-136-pound weight class and came away with a fifth-place finish after compiling a 4-2 record.
Rosborough also finished fifth, as he went 2-2 in the 9th/10th grade bracket in the 121-126-pound weight class.
Hyre competed in the 9th/10th bracket as well in the 139-149-pound class and went 1-2, while Hermann was in the 11th/12th grade bracket and went 0-2 in the 160-176-pound class.
