OPH wrestled three matches at the annual Olney Duals and came out with a 1-2 record.
In their first match of the bracketed tournament, OPH dropped a 42-39 decision to Lawrenceville-Red Hill. OPH rebounded with a 47-35 win over Herrin, before losing their final match to Carterville, 48-22.
“All in all, we looked decent today,” OPH head coach Mike Rosborough said. “We wrestled well against Lawrenceville and Herrin, but we just didn’t match up with Carterville.”
Against Lawrenceville-Red Hill, Ian Rosborough (126), Judah Sweitzer (145), Liam Wirey (152) and Austin Hargrave (182) won via pinfall, while Brandon Thacker won by decision at 195 and William Wilson (113) and Ethan Miller (285) each won by forfeit.
Against Herrin, pinfall victories came from Wilson (113), Bowen Ramsey (138) and Hargrave (182), while Rosborough won via technical fall at 126 and Mason Correll (120), Owen Griffin (132), Thacker (195) and Miller (285) all won via forfeit.
Against Carterville, Rosborough (126) and Griffin (132) each won via pin, Ramsey (138) won by major decision and Hargrave (182) won via forfeit.
Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville (11-16) is scheduled to wrestle at Mt. Carmel Wednesday before concluding the regular season at the Eastern Illinois Tournament in Olney Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
