Marshall, Jun. 6, 1952 - Ill. — Apr. 26, 2022'"Randy"' Mr. Randall W. "Randy" Christy, age 69 of Marshall, IL and formerly of Robinson, IL died Tuesday April 26, 2022, at 9:55 AM at his residence in rural Marshall, IL, following a long period of declining health.

Born in Reed City, MI, June 6, 1952, Randy was the son of Bruce and Virginia L. (Hall) Christy. He was educated in the Robinson school system and like a lot of young men for whom school had no particular appeal, Randy quit high school and entered the workforce. Soon, after working at his first job, Randy realized his mistake and to his credit, re-entered high school and graduated in 1972. In February of 1976, Randy made another, life changing choice and joined the United States Navy where he served on-board several ships. Among those were the USS Shenandoah and the USS Ranger. His primary duty was as an electrical technician for the ship's auxiliary electrical system. He was schooled as an electrician and turbine operator. Following his service in the Navy, Randy became a member of the Asbestos Abatement Union, Central Region, Local 207 where he worked from 1991 thru 2006. Health problems forced Randy into early retirement in 2009 and from that time, constant medical tests and procedures dominated his life.

Randy is survived by his wife Mary Louise (Slaven) Christy, whom he married in October of 1991 and by his children; Paul Christy & Julie Stancil of Concord, N. C.; daughters Victoria Christy, Robinson, IL and Samantha & Justin Drennen of Robinson, IL. Four grandchildren, Savannah Christy, Annabell Christy, Addie Drennen and Stella Drennen. Randy's mother-in-law, Mrs. Sue Slaven also survives along with two sisters-in-law Renee' Goodwin and Ellen & Ralph Maxwell both of Robinson and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Randy in death were his parents; brother Scott B. Christy; sister Vickie L. VanSchoyck and father-in-law George E. Slaven; stepfathers Paul Hilyard & Kelly Baldwin.

A time for sharing (visitation) will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Friday April 29, 2022, at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson followed by a graveside burial service at the Robinson New Cemetery with Mike Irvin officiating and Military Funeral Rites by the combined units of E.M. Coulter Post # 69, American Legion, VFW Post #4549, AMVETS Post #33 and Reavill Post # 132 American Legion of Flat Rock, IL.
