The Maroons picked up two more wins Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Lawrence County in Lawrenceville, while running their winning streak to five games.
In game one, Robinson grabbed an early lead, then pulled away late for a 14-4 win.
The Maroons led 3-2 after one inning and 5-3 after two, then scored single runs in the third and fourth to extend their advantage to 7-3. Lawrence County got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but Robinson responded with three runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to pull away for the win.
Wesley Liston led RHS at the plate with three singles and three runs scored, while Judson Pinkston doubled, singled, scored two runs and drove in a run. Landen Miller doubled, singled and knocked in a run, Mason Lewis singled twice and scored two runs, Julian Parker tripled and drove in three runs, Brayden Shipman doubled, knocked in two runs and scored a run, Derek Steward doubled, Garrett Winterrowd added a base hit, a run batted in and a run scored, Wesley Jackson singled and scored a run, Trenton Adams scored three runs, Chayse Aldrich drove in a run and Elijah Robb scored a run.
Shipman was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs (one earned) on one hit, while walking three and striking out six in three innings of work. Winterrowd gave up one run on two hits, walked three and struck out four in three innings of relief and Steward walked one and struck out two in a scoreless inning of work.
In game two, Lawrence County held an early lead in the five-inning contest, but Robinson grabbed the lead for good in the second inning and pulled away for a 9-2 win.
After Lawrence County scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, Robinson countered with three runs in the second to take the lead for good. The Maroons then tacked on a run in the third, three more in the fourth and another two in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Jackson led the RHS offense with two singles and two runs scored, while Shipman singled twice, knocked in a run and scored a run. Aldrich singled, drove in two runs and scored a run, Adams singled and knocked in two runs, Lewis singled and scored two runs, Liston singled and knocked in a run, Parker and Robb posted a base hit and a run scored apiece, Winterrowd drove in a run and scored a run and Miller knocked in a run.
Three RHS pitchers combined on a no-hitter, with Steward picking up the win. He allowed two unearned runs, walked three and struck out five in three innings of work, while Aldrich struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning of relief and Parker struck out two of the three batters he faced in a spotless inning of work.
Robinson (6-1) was scheduled to play at Teutopolis Tuesday and is slated to play at Flora Thursday at 5 p.m.
