Robinson’s 11-under team continued its strong season by rolling to a doubleheader sweep over Flora Sunday.
The Maroons won a pair of shortened games, taking game one 10-0 and game two 17-2.
In game one, Robinson scored in every inning and ended the game in the fifth due to the 10-run rule.
Felix Reynolds led Robinson at the plate with a home run, a single and two runs batted in, while Dagg Thompson doubled, singled twice, drove in three runs and scored two runs. Kale Pasero doubled, singled, drove in a run and scored a run, Jetson Hoalt doubled, scored two runs and drove in a run, Walker McDowell singled and scored two runs, Zack Riggs and Deek Thompson posted a base hit and a run scored apiece and Kaden Pasero knocked in a run.
Dagg Thompson went the distance on the mound, allowing one hit, walking two and striking out seven in five scoreless innings to earn the complete-game victory.
In game two, Robinson opened the scoring with five runs in the first inning, then erupted for 10 in the second and added two more in the third to end the game via the 15-run mercy rule.
Dagg Thompson led the offense for Robinson with two home runs, a single, six runs batted in and two runs scored, while Deek Thompson singled three times and scored three runs. Hoalt doubled, singled, drove in three runs and scored two runs, Kaden Pasero singled twice, scored two runs and knocked in a run, Kale Pasero singled, scored two runs and knocked in a run, McDowell drove in two runs and scored a run, Riggs and Noah Myers each scored two runs and Reynolds scored a run.
Riggs was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on three hits in two innings of work. Hoalt tossed the final frame, giving up an unearned run on one hit and striking out two.
Robinson (25-5) will play in the Battle of the Bats Tournament in Indianapolis June 24-26.
Meanwhile, Robinson’s 13-under team played in the Prairie Land Classic in Charleston over the weekend and finished with a 2-1 record.
Robinson won both of its pool play games Saturday, beating Stewardson-Strasburg (11-0) and Dirtbags Fulkerson (4-3).
Against Stewardson-Strasburg, Braylon Murray led Robinson at the plate with a double, three runs batted in and two runs scored, while Brayden Turner doubled, drove in three runs and scored a run. Jaxon Hires and Hayden Bonnell posted two singles, two runs scored and a run batted in apiece, Gunner Hoalt singled, drove in a run and scored a run, Brody Keesling added a base hit and a run batted in, Miles Hardiman singled and scored a run, Isaac Hardiman knocked in a run and scored a run and Mason Arnone scored a run.
Turner was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out four in three scoreless innings. Arnone tossed the final frame, striking out one.
Against Dirtbags, Robinson trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but rallied for two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull out the win.
Hoalt led Robinson at the plate with a double and a run scored, while Arnone singled and drove in two runs. Bonnell added a base hit and a run scored, Turner singled, Isaac Hardiman and Keesling each drove in a run and Murray and Aiden Green scored a run apiece.
Keesling picked up the win in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one in two scoreless frames. Hoalt started and went two scoreless innings, giving up one hit, walking two and striking out six. Isaac Hardiman tossed two innings of relief, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits, while walking one and striking out four.
On Sunday, Robinson opened with a rematch against Dirtbags and suffered an 8-7 loss. The Maroons held a 5-2 lead going into the seventh inning, but gave up six in the top of the inning for an 8-5 deficit. Robinson rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning and loaded the bases with two outs, but could not get the tying run across the plate.
Miles Hardiman led the offense for Robinson with three singles, two runs batted in and a run scored, while Isaac Hardiman singled three times, scored two runs and drove in a run. Murray singled twice and scored two runs, Hoalt doubled, scored two runs and knocked in a run, Turner and Green added a base hit and a run batted in apiece, Bonnell singled and Keesling drove in a run.
Turner was tagged with the loss in relief, allowing six unearned runs on three hits in one-third of an inning. Hoalt started and went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Isaac Hardiman tossed two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Robinson (8-9) will play in a tournament at Newton this weekend.
