Statesmen, Lady Statesmen drop close games at John A. Logan

Following a near-monthlong break due to cancellations and the holidays, Lincoln Trail College’s basketball teams finally returned to the court Wednesday night and played well. Unfortunately, it was not enough to find the win column, as both teams dropped close contests at John A. Logan College.

RHS boys 3rd at Sectional, advance four to state; OHS qualifies one
Solid performances against a tough field led to a handful of local athletes qualifying for the state meet, while several others fell just short. When all was said and done, Robinson High School’s boys’ track team finished third out of 19 teams that competed in the meet and qualified four individuals for state in a total of five events.
Maroons edge Lawrenceville, 5-4, to win Regional opener
The third time was the charm for Robinson High School’s baseball team Monday evening. The Maroons played Lawrenceville for the third time this season and for the third time, the game was decided by one run. However, the latest meeting resulted in a win for RHS and it came when it counted the most – in the first round of the IHSA Class 2A Newton Regional.
