More postseason accolades rolled in for a pair of Hutsonville-Palestine softball players last week.
After being named to the All-Little Okaw Valley Conference First Team the week prior, Izzy Sheets and Addison McNair were named to one of the Illinois Coaches Association’s All-State teams.
More postseason accolades rolled in for a pair of Hutsonville-Palestine softball players last week.
After being named to the All-Little Okaw Valley Conference First Team the week prior, Izzy Sheets and Addison McNair were named to one of the Illinois Coaches Association’s All-State teams.
Sheets, a recent Hutsonville graduate, was a Class 1A First Team selection, as she was a standout in the circle and at the plate for the Lady Tigers this past season.
Sheets registered a program-record 20 wins while pitching in nearly every game and compiling a 0.46 ERA this past season. She allowed 31 runs, although just 11 of them were earned, while giving up 58 hits, walking 17 batters and striking out 345, which was the most by any pitcher in Class 1A this season. She set program records for lowest ERA, most strikeouts in a season and career, most wins and most shutouts.
At the plate, Sheets batted .342 (27-79) with four home runs, five doubles, one triple and 22 runs batted in. She also posted a .974 fielding percentage, as she made just one error on the season.
McNair was among those chosen for the Third Team after she posted a team-high .395 batting average (32-81) with four doubles and 18 runs batted, while striking out just three times. She also had a .935 fielding percentage with just two errors.
There were a total of 100 players selected to the three teams, with 17 named to the First Team, 37 on the Second Team and 46 on the Third Team.
