Robinson, Oct. 30, 1935 - Ill. — Jan. 12, 2022'"Bill"' William "Bill" Henry Pippin, 86 of Robinson, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, after several years of declining health in Hospice care at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana.
He was born in Saco, Missouri on October 30, 1935, to Lonzo Lee and Dollie (Spain) Pippin. On June 13, 1956, he married Shirley Van Winkle who preceded him in death on January 17, 2021.
William honorably served his country during the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Tech Sargent. During his service the Pippin family was transferred to several bases. Upon retirement the family returned to Robinson, IL where he worked for L.S. Heath & Sons (Hershey) in the maintenance department for 20 years. He loved gardening, & fishing at their cabin for several years where he was well known by the other families on the banks of the Wabash River. He adored several "furry family" members, loved to "tinker" in his garage and was well known by his family to fix or repair anything, using duct tape. When he was able, he attended New Hebron Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship. He truly loved his family and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with his beloved wife, Shirley. Family was so important to him. His children and grandchildren knew him to often have several unique games that usually had a trick to them.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Robert & Antje Pippin, Steve & Karen Pippin, and one daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna & Craig Waggoner, all of Robinson. One brother, John Pippin, Pevely, Missouri, grandchildren Jamie (Dena) Pippin, Joseph (Carrie)Pippin, Jonathan Waggoner, Katie (Karl) Odom, Kaylie (Zak) Walls, Steven (Jessica) Pippin, Jayce (Hannah) Waggoner & Kristi (Steven) Ham and a step-granddaughter, Erica (Jeremy) Anderson. Great-grandchildren, Sarah Pippin, Grayson Pippin, Julian Pippin, Khloe Walls, Bentley Waggoner, Kynlie Walls, Cayden Waggoner, Steve Pippin, Henry Pippin, William Pippin, & Evelyn Walls and a step-great granddaughter Rhianna Moss Waggoner, along with several nieces & nephews who knew him as Henry or "Uncle Pip."
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Shirley (2021) a son, James Gregory (2006), daughters-in-law, Janice Pippin (2004) and Jennifer Pippin (2021) a granddaughter, Cassandra Pippin (2009), and two sisters, Christine Dudley and Maxine Newton.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17th, 2022 at the Tohill Cemetery in rural Flat Rock, IL with Brother Lee Gurley officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ark of the Covenant Soup Kitchen, Crawford County Animal Shelter or Lawrence Crawford Exceptional Citizens with envelopes available at the funeral home and at the graveside service.
